When your child is born you usually have no idea what to expect. I often hear moms comment that their calm child was also calm in utero. Or their energetic child was a kicker before birth. But you just never know for sure. When I saw this little face- after the 9 most painful minutes of my life- I wondered what lay in store for us.
I love this picture because it shows exactly what lay in store for us. There are two things missing from this picture: her starting blocks and someone firing a starting pistol. Caitlin jumps head first into everything. I don't have any pictures of her newest trick: crawling away from me, turning, waving, and saying "bah!" (bye).
She loves water. Bath time is her favorite activity. As the bathtub is filling up she wiggles, trying to get off my lap and into the water faster.
At the library she crawls into the big bins of board books and sits down to read them or throw them out, depending on her mood. At home she crawls into her toy box or kitchen cupboards to empty them out. She is full of curiosity about everything around her. She points and asks "S'is?" or "S'at" and really expects you to reply.
She is full of funny faces. She makes up plenty of her own and she tries to mimic every face or noise you make at her. Ken makes a popping sound and when she can't make the noise on her own, she will stick her fingers into his mouth to try and make the noise. If you stick out your tongue, she sticks hers out as well.
Happy Birthday, Caitlin. How Big is Caitlin?
