Not to give anything away in advance, but Dylan was sick as a dog the day we went to Legoland. We had about an hour's drive to get there from our Anaheim hotel and about half way there he no longer wanted to play 20 questions. He got very whiny and suddenly said, "My tummy hurts!" We said "Let us know if you're going to throw up." Suddenly he was sure he was going to throw up and like chumps, we didn't believe him. Then, of course, he did in fact throw up. Ken pulled off the freeway as quickly as he could. We had our friends' daughters in the car too and they sat, huddled together and terror stricken, as far away from Dylan as they could get. We got him out of the car and tried our best to clean him and the car up. Luckily, I had a roll of paper towels in the trunk! As Dylan started to throw up into the bushes, a police officer told us we had stopped our car in front of a Marine training facility and we would need to move. As soon as Dylan was done we loaded him back in to the car and carried on to Legoland. Now we were almost there and so we thought we would at least give it a shot. As soon as we parked the car, Dylan got out and puked on the car next to us. Still, we were not dissuaded. We bought him a non-barf covered shirt and started out on the mildest ride we could find: a boat ride around the Lego models. He said he felt better and so we tried a few more rides and then wondered if some food would make him better or worse. So we fed him pizza and took him on a spinning ride:

It turns out that is not such a good idea. While I took the girls on a few rides, Ken took care of Dylan, who threw up on the sidewalk, in a planter, and finally in the bathroom. Following that unpleasantness, he felt much better and we had a lovely time for the rest of the afternoon. We went on a few more rides (his favorite ride was a very small dragon roller coaster) and bought the kids ice cream. He said afterward that he liked Legoland better than Disneyland, so apparently barfing doesn't ruin a 4 year old's enjoyment of a theme park! Did anyone do a final tally of all the reasons I am a bad mom? :)
Dylan made me these hearts as an anniversary gift. Sweet, huh? Ten years ago I was newly graduated from college, in love and ready to get married! Well, technically I was freaking out about getting married, which probably made Ken feel super good. Most of you know this story and the rest of you probably don't care, but it's my blog, so ppppthhhht! Ken lived across the street from me during our last year of college (but curiously, we were 24 and 25. Oh, how I love BYU). He and his room mate spent many evenings, and when I say evenings I really mean late at night, in my living room talking to my room mates, Laura and Cheryl (hi guys!). I would emerge from my basement lair, tell them to pipe down and then retreat for my beauty sleep and morning classes. Ken would hang out then go home, watch a movie, go jogging at 3 am and then sleep until noon. Somewhere in there I assume he also studied a bit but maybe not. He probably just showed up and dazzled his professors with his ...
